This is a great post I am in the middle of writing a how to book at the minute and didn’t know where to go with the affiliate or own product in the guide. This has shined a light on this.

This is a fantastic post! It’s so good to hear this type of information with a straight forward, analytical tone, instead of the hype that IM so often entails.

So, how about a how-to guide on how to create “how-to guides” (and format them, make them viral, setup optin and backend sales offer pages etc. ?

That would be very enjoyable if you wrote it!

I have more step-by-step guides in the making – too many in fact so I need to figure out which one to focus on. I’m leaning towards the WordPress blogging guide I’ve been working on which concentrates on “tips and tricks”

I think I would more or less ditto what Carol has said.
You certainly have a folder on my desktop with your name on it for all the products I’ve bought from you. (They are that good!)

And yes – I too have had good, or at least better, results from giveaways when I offer a ‘how to guide’.

You write step-by-step guides the way they should be — no fluff or hype. IMHO, you and 1 other marketer top the list in this arena. It is a lonely list with so few even making the grade.

In fact, you and the other marketer have a separate folder on my desktop where all your work is stored. It is that valuable.

Incidentally, all this comes from a retired teacher who has used the step-by-step approach longer than most of you have been alive.

Secondly, I really enjoyed reading your post! It’s really interesting and a bit more valuable than a lot of junk we can find out there!
