How to Use PLR Content to Increase Traffic to Your Websites
PLR content is a topic which causes many an argument… Some people love it, some hate it, but no matter which way you look at it, PLR content can be used to create an endless stream of traffic to your money sites.
What is PLR content?
In a nutshell it’s content you can edit as you wish to use for:
- Websites
- Newsletters
- Articles
- Ebooks
Let’s have a quick peek at the disadvantages of PLR content:
For a start, the top article directories will not accept any PLR articles. Their terms state they will not even accept rewritten PLR.
Most PLR is crap - by that I mean it’s badly written. Many marketers pay bottom dollar to non English speaking writers to create PLR products.
There is a constant debate over PLR content used on websites being trashed by search engine duplicate content filters. Some people are rabid about this!
Truth is, the only duplicate content that ever gets filtered are identical webpages. There are tons of ways to use PHP scripting to insert “other content” into PLR articles to make the resulting webpages appear unique.
OK, what about the good side of PLR content?
One of the major benefits is any supplier of PLR content will have done some research to figure out profitable topics. You can use any piece of PLR content as a framework to write your own unique content.
Re-writing PLR content tends to be a lot quicker than writing an original piece because the PLR, no matter how bad it is, will give you ideas for your own literary masterpiece.
If you have purchased good quality PLR content, you won’t have to do much re-writing, especially for ebooks and reports. Just add your own personality into the content and you have a product you can call your own…
I mentioned earlier that PHP scripts can turn any webpage built using a PLR article into something that is fairly unique. I wouldn’t use webpages built like this for my “money sites” but these sites make brilliant one way linking sites, especially if you host them on different servers and don’t use your own contact details when you buy the domains.
Basically you don’t want anybody to be able to trace these sites to you.
Why?
Because it’s against any search engines terms to manipulate your rankings. I like to think I’m creating a better user experience because the search engines do such a bad job of listing decent websites anyway. Let’s face it, your website is great and deserves to be listed…
But you don’t want them to know the linking sites are yours.
- Don’t use your own contact details - I’m lucky I have a big family spread out all over the world who love the idea they now own websites…
- Open a new NameCheap account for buying the domains (not in your name).
- Open new hosting accounts for hosting the domains (reseller hosting accounts are the best, because each website has its own cPanel).
- DON’T put Adsense on these sites - your Adsense account will tell Google these are your sites!
- Promote affiliate products using new affiliate accounts.
- Don’t view these sites in a browser which has toolbars installed - Toolbars collect info and send it back to the owners…
It might seem like a bit of a grey hat system, but who cares, if it gives your “money sites” a boost then do it!
If the PLR articles are good quality, some of these linking sites can actually feature very well in the search engines and be quite popular with visitors, so don’t be too quick to label them as spam sites…
To set these sites up, just get hold of a decent template and add the articles into it. Then use a script like RSS Gadgets to insert data from the RSS feeds of ClickBank, Amazon and eBay.
If you use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) you can configure the template so the RSS feed data is inserted into the text of the PLR articles (using div styling of float:left and float:right).
Finally, there is one very important point to remember when linking to your money sites…
You should only link to your website from inside the text of two or three articles. You must link to other authority websites from the other articles. If every out going link is to your websites, it’s pretty obvious the site has been built as a linking site.
